Growing up in the depths of Cornwall I had a very nieve childhood,
something like how Enid Blyton's Famous Five were depicted. A lot
of playing outside, bike rides, going on adventures, finding
animals to make friends with in fields along the way, packed
lunches, trips to the beach.
I love where I grew up but as I grew older, I sought opportunities
to grow as a person and as a professionl; which seemed much more
plentiful up North. So I went to university near Liverpool, got a
BA Hons degree in Drama and moved to Manchester to make my way in
the world.
Permanently moving up north was the beginning of greater things
but my career has certainly taken a few turns. A 180 for a moment,
when I had to go back to hospitality work to be able to get a job
in time for leaving uni.
However, eventually after several roles with regulated services, I
found my way to Bupa as a DesignOps Executive. This where I
discovered my specialism that was somewhat chosen for me by my
experiences. Taking on these coding courses with SheCodes has been
an effort to acelerate that specialism more actively.
